I recently made a collage which I titled the Dangers of an Early Spring, but after reading this poem a friend sent to me, I understood that it is not just warning but clelebration, and when metaphorical spring comes again to me, I will take this vow. I am reminded again of Seamus Heany's collection of lectures, The Redress of Poetry, where he concludes that poetry "reconciles two orders, the practical and the poetic, the former teaching us how to live, the latter how to live more abundantly."
